1. Where did you grow up? (And what’s the best thing about it?)
“In the suburbs of Canton, Ohio in a very friendly neighborhood with lots of kids. It was safe– everyone looked after each other. We played all day without structure (or adults!). Pick-up baseball, wiffle ball, football, playing Army in the woods, riding bikes for miles.”
2. Few people know that I am…
“…very mechanically inclined. I can take about anything apart and put it back together.”
3. What does your perfect day look like?
“I had one this spring. Woke up at 7 a.m. in Seattle, perfect weather, loaded up the bike, drove to the Skagit Valley with Deborah, went to the Tulip Festival, got some great pictures and saw a friend who is an artist. Rode maybe 60 miles to Bellingham and back along Chuckanut Drive – one of the most beautiful roads in the world– had ice cream, back for dinner at a great Mexican restaurant.”
4. What’s your favorite family tradition?
“Christmas! It has always been a special time for me and my family. The smell of a real tree and of baking cookies, the joyous sound of everyone being together, again, for yet another year, the sense of peace that comes with gratitude and reflection.”
5. What celebrity would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?
“Barbara Walters.”
