Columbia City, located in Southeast Seattle is a uniquely vibrant mix of life. It is broadly diverse, hosting many African restaurants, as well as mom and pop, small town venues. This has created a strong, interlaced, sense of community among its residents. Its easy access to downtown via the Link light rail allows residents who live to commute to downtown Seattle.

If you’re in the mood for cocktails crafted with freshly squeezed fruit juices, be sure to stop by Taproot, locally owned and staffed by kind people who pride themselves on fresh, high quality ingredients and a comfortable place for residents to feel welcome. Their menu is definitely varied, allowing people on all parts of the diet spectrum an option that satisfies their needs.

If all-day breakfast tickles your fancy, Geraldine’s Counter is a local hotspot that is constantly voted one of Seattle’s best breakfasts! There are plenty of other dining options ranging from hearty American to Asian, and from Italian to Ethiopian. Columbia City might be small, but you are sure to have plenty of food choices to choose from. And don’t forget about dessert! Full Tilt is a locally owned eclectic ice cream shop featuring fun flavors, all natural ingredients, beer, and pinball. If you can’t make it out to Columbia City, check out their other locations as well in Ballard, White City, and University District.

For a taste of culture and history, check out the events offered at the Bourbon Bar and Columbia City Theater, which is celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year! Another taste of culture and entertainment can be had at The Royal Room, which offers music EVERY night of the week! And bonus, it’s family-friendly until 10pm.

Seasonal offerings include the Columbia City Farmers Market on Wednesdays (3-7pm) from May to October, and the Beat Walk “taking place from 4pm to 9pm on the second Sunday of the month, from June through October, BeatWalk places an extraordinarily talented and diverse range of musicians in our neighborhood businesses, from the bookstore to the fitness center, the salon to the deli.
